Israel's acting PM Ehud Olmert vows to stick to President Bush's road map for peace, BUT, a big BUT, he intends to keep the two biggest Jewish settlements, Maale Adumim and Ariel, built on Palestinian land in the West Bank. According to the road map, these would have to be surrendered back to the Palestinians. Oh, don't forget the Gush Etzion bloc south of Jerusalem as wll - Israel wants that too.
The expansion of the settlements has been going on against the agreed terms of Bush's road map. By the way, just one more item, Olmert also said Israel won't relinquish the strategically important Jordan Valley to the east.
Hmmm, anything else?
Well, there you have it, the BIGGEST double-talk you could ever hear. Having continuously broken virtually all the terms of President Bush's road map, in continuing to STEAL Palestinian land, the Israelis have the brazen gall to lie through their teeth that they intend to stick to Bush's road map for peace.
And mind you, that's Olmert's Kadima, the moderate party talking. I wonder what's the West Bank policy from Netanyahu's Likud?
Now, can anyone blame Hamas from refusing to recognise the existence of Israel?
