Speaking Out for Kaliammal - Najib Responds Favourably!

The Malaysian people who spoke out loud in newspapers reader-letter columns such as at Malaysiakini and Malaysian bloggers and their readers, and not forgetting various NGOs and outstanding citizens, have won a consolation prize for Kaliammal, the widow of the late K Moorthy.

After our avalanche of outraged protests, supported by compassionate Islamic experts and Muslims, and other supportive citizens, the authorities have realised the enormity of the injustice. Though the government is typically too proud to admit the arrogant mistake of its religious and ultra-zealous officials, or retreat from the Muslim burial of the late Moorthy, it attempts in an indirect face-saving way to mitigate that injustice. It does so by consoling the traumatised widow of Moorthy in a practical way.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Najib Razak has announced that the Hindu widow of Moorthy or Mohammad Abdullah (as he was buried) will receive the death benefits and monthly pension. Moorthy was also awarded a posthumous promotion to Sarjan, backdated to June last year, which means that Kaliammal will receive a higher pension.

Najib also assures the widow that Moorthy’s Muslim brother, who had earlier told Moorthy’s widow and family to accept the fact that his brother had converted to Islam, has agreed not to claim Moorthy's any death benefits, although according to Islamic laws, he is entitled to do so.

Speaking up for Kaliammal – yes, you all have done well.

Just one questions, Is Najib the Chief Judge? He's sure the brother won't challenge this and claim Moorthy's properties in court?
