London Bombing - Speculations & Counter Speculations

Now it seems, according to British police, that the Jamaican-Briton Jermaine Lindsay or Lindsay Jamal or Abdullah Shaheed Jamal, might have been the most senior of the four bombers, playing a key co-ordinating role in the London bus and Tube bombings.

The basis for their beliefs? (and my comments):

(a) The other bombers travelled to Luton to see him before proceeding to London

I am not familiar with the geography here, but would Luton be along the way from Leeds to London? Did they visit him to ensure he went along, and not have a last minute change of heart? But more likely, it would be because he was holding the bombs. They need to go there to pick up a rucksack of explosives each.

(b) Further bombs were found at Luton station in Jamal's car. Could those have been meant for other suicide bombers to use on future missions, or jointly with him on 7/7?

If they were suicide bombers hell-bent on becoming martyrs, why leave explosives in a car or house to be undoubtedly picked up by police? Could it be that they, the 4 of them rather than others, had further missions to perform after the London trip?

Perhaps this was what had been told to them by the mastermind to mask the death awaiting them, something along the lines of “Hand over those rucksacks to W, X, Y and Z in the following places in London. then come back, pick up 4 more rucksacks and hand them over to P, Q, R and S at ............................... (another city)”?

(c) From "unconfirmed" newspaper reports, Jamal was said to have spent time at Brixton mosque in south London with Richard Reid, the Muslim convert jailed after trying to blow up an airliner with a bomb in his shoe in 2001.

It’s difficult to comment on “unconfirmed” reports. Perhaps those reporters are like me ;-) analysing and speculating?
